It’s setting on the Point gives the home a rare combination of lakefront beauty, walkable small-town access, and a deeply rooted sense of belonging. The experience of living on the Point is best described by the family who shared this lake home for many years. This lake home is truly… Read More a magical place where for nearly sixty years, four generations of Thom’s and Matthias’ have lived, laughed and loved each other while enjoying all that Lake Waconia and this area has to offer. As children, we had the gift of spending most Sundays with our grandparents on the lake. Grandpa LOVED to fish and would be out at least twice each day. Eating his catch, and Grandma’s sour cream cookies (among other sweet desserts) was no hardship for us growing up! It was here we learned to swim, waterski and fish. We played badminton, lawn games and would skateboard and bike down the street. In the winter we learned to skate on an endless smooth ice base and walk to the island on a nice day. And of course, we ate wonderful dinners and played cards and sang around the piano. Our house was filled with music, love and laughter. As our generation became parents, the house became the annual meeting place every summer. We added a swing, kayaks, and a water trampoline. Running around the lake, riding bikes or walking to town for a coffee, kayaking to the island or driving to the winery across the lake were part of our Waconia way of life. Along with the many wonderful memories, one of the lake house’s most magical moments was waking early to watch the sun rise over the island. The water was glassy, birds were singing, and an occasional fishing boat drifted by, but the prevailing sound was silence. We often saw loons swimming past, a heron on a neighboring dock, flocks of geese landing on the water, or a bald eagle fishing from our oak trees or the neighbors’. As we consider this treasure in our times of quiet reflection, we’ve come to conclude: the lake house is a place of gathering, a home infused with the love of multiple generations.” Read Less
